Product Details

The Cameroon Red Baboon is a seriously impressive African species, native to Cameroon and surrounding parts of Central Africa. They’re large, chunky tarantulas that can reach around 15-16cm as adults, with a lovely deep brown to rusty-red colouring. This is a fossorial species, so deep substrate is definitely the name of the game. Give them plenty to dig into, a secure hide and enough room to create their own burrow system — and don’t be surprised if they completely remodel the enclosure to suit themselves! Keep them around 23–26°C with humidity around 70–80%, using moisture-retentive substrate while still allowing good ventilation. A water dish should always be available. They’re generally a shy species that spends much of its time tucked away underground, but can become more confident and visible once settled. They’re also incredibly interesting to watch if you catch them in the process of excavating their latest architectural masterpiece. A big, chunky and seriously fascinating tarantula for anyone who enjoys species that really get stuck into their enclosure.
